Welcome to Inside the Box. Here at Lesters, we are proud of the team we have. Every month we will be introducing a new member of our team and will be getting to know a little more about them. Next up is our Commercial Manager, Kerry McNally.
As Commercial Manager, Kerry works closely with suppliers and our production teams to ensure that orders are fulfilled on time.
Kerry, tell us what a typical day looks like for you at Lesters.
As a business we’re focussed on making sure our partners get the boxes they need when they need them. It’s my job to anticipate any issues or problems that might jeopardise that happening and to navigate a way around them. Ensuring that suppliers stay on track and that our production is customer focussed can be challenging – there are often difficult conversations to be had. However, I always try to approach everything I do with a sense of humour, I’m always honest and open, and I’m always focussed on getting to the quickest and best solution for all.
How long have you worked in the packaging industry?
It’s incredible to think that October 2020 marked my 30th anniversary in the packaging industry! During that time, I’ve worked in a variety of different roles, and for a number of different companies. It’s never occurred to me to take a role outside of the industry though. There’s just something about it that I find fascinating.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
The fact that every day is different. Whilst my goal is to ensure our customer’s expectations are met, that can mean I have to get involved in a variety of different tasks, which I really enjoy. We have a great team spirit here too, and my colleagues help to make my days fun and interesting.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I enjoy riding my horse Delphi, and competing at weekends (when not in lockdown, of course) and I love spending winter evenings cuddled up on the sofa with my husband and our 4 dogs (with the heating on and a glass of gin in hand!)
