Welcome to Inside the Box. Here at Lesters, we are proud of the team we have. Every month we will be introducing a new member of our team and will be getting to know a little more about them. This month it’s our Technical Sales Manager, Anthony Quinn.

As Technical Sales Manager, Anthony is responsible for our innovative product design and business development.

Tony, tell us what a typical day looks like for you at Lesters.

We work in a fast-paced industry, and we’re a fast-paced company, so every day flies by! Our packaging partners come in all shapes and sizes, so there’s always a new design challenge. But between myself and the team we have years of experience, so we’re always able to come up with a suitable solution – however difficult the problem!

How long have you worked in the packaging industry?

It seems hard to believe, but I’ve worked in packaging since 1987 – that’s 34 years! Over that time, I’ve had lots of different roles – in production running machines, sample maker, designer, design manager and then into new business development & sales. I’ve also worked for some of the biggest names in the industry, so I feel like I know the business well. I joined Lesters 5 years ago and have seen us grow into the Big Box Specialists that we are today.

What do you enjoy most about your role?

I really enjoy the variety of projects that I get to work on. We work across several different business sectors so we can be designing packaging for engine parts or flat pack furniture! I also enjoy the culture that we have here at Lesters. We’re nimble and proactive and we’re able to make business decision quickly, which is very different to some other companies I’ve worked for.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

We recently had a new addition to the family, a Rottweiler puppy named Bella. She’s great but a bundle of energy so most of my time now gets taken up by her. When I can I love to get away, and Brixham in Devon is a particular favourite place of mine. I also love live music, and I’m learning to be a drummer. I have a vintage Lambretta that I’m restoring, and I’m a member of the Birmingham Whisky Club – so I enjoy a tipple or two.
